This evening J and I met with 6 of our friends.
J was thoroughly spoilt being the only young man.
We ate lots of garlic, cheese and pasta.
It was lovely to see the out-of-towners who`d traveled from afar to be with us.
One of our party had maybe just a little too much of the vino.
I`ll bet good money that the little men with the big drums will be pounding inside her head tomorrow morning.
There were a few times I had to raise a brow as the `f` and `b` words were used within earshot of my 10 year old.
It was though pretty harmless. While I prefer J not to hear such language it`s just not possible to protect him from it 24/7. I think he`s sensible enough to know what is/isn`t appropriate for him to repeat.
And if he forgets, i`ll be there to remind him.
J was a very good boy and really didn`t complain too much, even when tired and somewhat bored of all the adult company
I`m a very proud Mum.
Two friends K and H look more and more alike each time I see them.
Now that K is sporting a slinky European bob, the resemblance is even more striking.
It`s a common lesbian phenomena that partners look more and more alike.
With N I discuss the merits of blogging..
and of how it`s a bit like leaving a series of lasting memories.
A lovely friend S, who almost 2 years ago passed away quite unexpectedly.
S was just 30.
She`d lived with cystic fibrosis all her life.
All who attended her funeral were sent a daffodil bulb to plant in S`s memory.
This was a really lovely touch and for me, ensured that in some way or another S lives on.
During her life S did a lot of writing, much of which can be found on the internet.
For this, i`m very grateful.
It`s of much comfort to be able to read her words, even so long after they were written, and keeps my memory and connection to S alive.
