Today`s only lecture was cancelled.
It`s not really a lecture.
Well actually, it`s a yoga class.
But as it`s timetabled to all intents and purposes it`s a lecture.
Only myself and the lecturer were there at the beginning of the class.
Two others arrived about 10 minutes later.
One had a migraine, so made her excuses and left.
The other said she had an assignment to do so wouldn`t be staying either.
The lecturer made a point about managing her time more effectively and then decided to abandon the class.
Before she left she was kind enough to show me how to spin around whilst spotting.
So at least I learn`t that.
We have to spin in the dance assessment.

A friend commented that this course sounds more like a retreat than being at university.
She could be right.
With dancing and yoga.
Vocal warm ups.
Modernism.
Romanticism.
Symbolism.
Absurdism.
Classicism.
Actually now it sounds more like university.
I would heartily recommend it though.

In preparation for a dance assessment next week,
Our very thoughtful lecturer videotaped us dancing.
So we could see where we make mistakes, she said.
More than most, I really need to brush up on the whole dance.
So I now have a copy.
The absolute shame of it.

Even though it`s hideous to watch, I intend to learn the dance back to front with my eyes shut.
We have two new additions :
Norbert and Goldie.
Yes, they`re goldfish.
Very sweet too.

J named them.
Not been in long from a very amusing evening in the company of C.
Just so you know.

Just wondering..

... if anyone enjoys dipping their fries into vanilla milkshake?

J`s been doing it for years and it really is very good.

I thought we`d have to speak soon as recently your blog`s been a bit boring.
A direct quote from N. The implication being that I need to gather some new material in order to keep this blog interesting.

Tonight J and I set up a fish tank in his bedroom.
We washed the multicoloured gravel.
Firmly imbedded the base of the plastic plant within it.
Added colourful rocks, tap water and the stuff that adjusts the chlorine levels.
And now we wait.
For approximately 5-7 days.
Apparantly the wait is to allow the whole thing to settle.
Then we`ll get a fish.

Readers of this blog may have sussed i`m doing a Performing Arts degree.
Theatre is my thing, but we also have to do some dance.
Now, let me give you some perspective.
I haven`t had dance lessons for approximately 20 years.
Sure, i`ve spent the odd evening at salsa, and jiggled my bits in a club. But not proper lessons.
Even when I was dancing, I don`t think I was ever particularly good at it.

So now we have to dance.
I was dreading the marks for this assessment, and would`ve been thrilled just to have passed.
40% is the pass mark.
I got 63%.
Absolutely gobsmackingly marvellous.

And tomorrow is our play.
Today i`m feeling pleasantly festive.
Probably a combination of the lights and adverts on the TV at the moment.
Maybe the cold weather too.
It`s time to start the Dreaded Christmas Shop.
I don`t like shopping at the best of times.

Oh yes.
Tomorrow i`m going to be in a play.
Must go and recite lines.

More spotty dogs.

Not a real post.
Just wanted to tease Lizzie.

Camden, red wine and messages from beyond..

This weekend was spent with C and S in London.
We got tipsy on red wine and Grappa ( foul tasting italian after dinner spirit thingy).
Sunday was spent wandering around Camden market- how cool is that place?

Upon arriving back in my home town I met my brother C, at the local spiritualist church.
The service is similar to that in a more mainstream church with singing and prayer.
The main difference being when the medium takes the floor and delivers messages.
Her attention fell to the lady in the red scarf - me!
Some of her message made sense, and quite a bit didn`t seem to make any.
I remain open minded and optimistic that there is something beyond what we can see.

All in all a very good weekend.

A very happy birthday to H for yesterday.

J

This is one of my favourite pics of J.

P.S.....

Isn`t it bloody cold?!

Harry P. and mingling with cockney folk.

Hello my lovelies,

Today I am heading to London Town, to meet with friends C and S.

Last night J and I saw the new Harry Potter film. It`s a long but action packed movie.
I was quite troubled by the amount of very young children in the audience.
I`m talking 2-3 year olds.
Harry P. is rated as a 12A....which in my understanding means that it may not be suitable for those under the age of 12.
J is almost 11, and he found some scenes scary.
Still. Maybe it was cheaper than getting a babysitter.

In the last two days I have:

  • rolled around the floor Doris Humphrey style.
  • performed Madonna`s American Pie into a hair brush
  • sang Baa Baa Black Sheep in front of other people.
  • arranged for J to have a Peer Mentor at school.

Lizzie and her incredibly handsome spotty dogs...

..As Lizzie has quite rightly pointed out, i`ve neglected to tell you all about our visit.
J and I went to Lizzie`s to drop off a little spotty gift.
Lucky for us she was home and invited us in.
Lizzie has two very spotty, very handsome dogs. Actually, only one is really spotty...the other is more blotchy.
J was very taken with the spotted ones and I believe left them far more excitable than when we`d arrived.

CF Calendar.

This calendar features young people who all have Cystic Fibrosis.
All profits go towards funding research into a cure.
So go on...get yourself one and support a very worthwhile cause.

It`s been a good weekend.
Last night J and I went out to celebrate the birthday of JW.
I was seated opposite JJ. Haven`t seen him for years so was fun to catch up.
His father used to date my mother. We all once went on a very amusing holiday to Madeira.

In the day we met with M and C in a village pub.
We ate so much i`m still feeling full.

Saturday J and I met with A:her love life is among the most eventful of any i`ve ever known.
In the evening I met up with M,A and K.
J had been at a firework party with his dad and was dropped off to where I was on his way home.
He doesn`t know A and K and we then had the following conversation:

J- are A and K sisters?
Me-no they`re girlfriends, each others partner.
J- oh, so they`re gay.
Me-yes
J-do they have sex?
Me-yes I should think so.
J-when do they have sex?
Me-when they`re on their own I expect.
J-eewww

Today is my 31st birthday.
Yay!

Today a complete stranger told me this story:

Woman buys an outfit.
She returns it a few days later claiming it to be unsuitable.
After getting her money back she continues on her way.
The next edition of the local newspaper carried a picture of the shopper in the original outfit at some high profile function.
How bizarre life can be.

Weekend

This weekend I went out for dinner with a few local and not so local friends. I had a very nice time so thankyou to all who made it a special evening for me.
There was even a spontaneous rendition of `Happy Birthday` in the pub afterwards.
Very embarassing.
Present at dinner were : Y and her SLF, S, A, J and her partner T, C. With a few more folk joining us in the pub.
I have more birthday celebrations planned for this week so won`t be blogging much.

Cousin Nick.

Today is a good day.
I have received correspondence from Cousin Nick.
He lives across the ocean and is notoriously bad at staying in contact unless hassled.
So I nudged.
And he`s responded.
Yay!

Don`t you just love this time of year?
I do. For a few reasons: beautiful fireworks and it`s also my birthday next week.
It`s also Autumn.
Saw a few fireworks last night and am meeting with some friends tonight for a curry.
Yippee!

There`s a labrador on the worktop.

It`s firework season.
I love them.
Unfortunately my black labrador doesn`t.
Recently I found her asleep on the kitchen worktop.
God only knows how she got up there.
Can only imagine it was the fear of the big bang.

Prize winner.

It must be my lucky day.
I`ve won a dvd.
Yay!

Follow the link to Zoe Ball`s...oops I mean Emma Scott`s site,if you fancy trying your luck. There`s lots of other stuff to look at too.

Mushy peas please.

Tomorrow is a busy day of back-back reharsals so will keep this brief.

Had dinner in a very warm and cosy pub situated at a point roughly half way along the road between my and H`s houses.
H is of H and P fame.( See The Honeymooners post.) She`s a bit of a celebrity and a very lovely friend.
We met at school.
This evening we ate fish, chips and mushy peas. H declined the peas.
I ate lots. H didn`t.
Very nice evening all round.

Chewits. How do you pay for yours?

On the subject of my brothers antics.
As kids he would do almost anything for the small price of 50p.
Once, or maybe twice he was offered this small sum to do a number 2 in a bush.
He`d then take his hard earned cash up to the local shop and buy 5 packs of Chewits.

Glad to be able to report that he`s just a little more discerning now.

Sexpot Sue

So listen dishy Chrissy,
I think you`re cool.
And I immediately imagine you`re dark handsome and tall,
With your brilliant singing and low sexy voice,
Falling for you Chrissy, I have no choice.
Everything I said in this rap is true,
From your number one fan,
Sexpot Sue.

As children my brother and I often engaged in games of make believe.
My brother fancied himself as a bit of a rapper.
He went as far as recording himself onto a tape.
Somehow this tape got into anothers hand and was then delivered in an envelope addressed to my brother with a letter including the above rhyme.

The culprit has never come forward so naturally all fingers of suspicion have been pointed towards I.
Greatly wishing I could take the credit for this fantastic joke, but unfortunately the credit lies with someone else.

Another time i`ll tell you about The Tele Rap.
